Rubikon follows (or better yet stays with...) three astronauts stranded on a space station orbiting Earth just as a catastrophe is about to make the world uninhabitable. The geometric exploration we did with the main comp is to show how their fates are linked yet they are alone in their views. The close-up teaser is reminiscent of any space movie you've ever seen but the massive toxic clouds did present a challenge for us in painting them to look as realistic as possible. At the time, we did not have any CGI from the film and had to create the scene from scratch for the release of the poster.
